ToggleHello, my name is Clark JI!
I was born in Nogent-sur-Marne and raised in the small city of Bussy-Saint-Georges. I am currently in my final year at ENSIIE, an engineering school specializing in big data and computer science. At the moment, I am also enrolled in a dual degree program with UVSQ, where I am focusing on cybersecurity, hence my internship at Datategy.
Can you tell us about your role at the Datategy, and what kind of projects or initiatives you have been working on during your internship?
During my internship at Datategy, I had the opportunity to focus on improving the company’s security. As a DevSecOps developer, I implemented tools to scan the entire infrastructure for potential vulnerabilities. I also had the pleasure of leading the inaugural cybersecurity workshop, where I shared insights on best practices to help our team protect sensitive information.
How have the Datategy teams help you to develop your skills and competencies in the data industry, and what have you learned during your time in the program?
My time with the Datategy team has profoundly impacted my understanding of data security. The experience made me realize just how crucial it is to handle data with the utmost sensitivity. Working on enhancing the security of our CI/CD pipeline provided me with valuable, hands-on experience in safeguarding complex systems.
Additionally, managing my first workshop allowed me to refine my skills in educating others on best practices for data protection. This journey has not only deepened my appreciation for data security but also equipped me with practical skills to advance in the data industry.
What kind of mentorship and support have you received during your internship, and how has this helped you to navigate your first professional experience?
During my internship, I had the privilege of being mentored by an expert in the field of cybersecurity. His deep knowledge and experience were invaluable in shaping my understanding of DevSecOps.
Through his guidance, I absorbed essential practices and strategies that define the role. His mentorship not only helped me navigate my first professional experience with confidence but also instilled in me a strong foundation and understanding in cybersecurity principles and best practices.
How has the Datategy Early Careers Program fostered a sense of initiative and team spirit among its participants, and what values do you think are important for success in the data industry?
The Datategy Early Careers Program has fostered a strong sense of curiosity and teamwork, underscoring that success in the data field requires both a forward-thinking mindset and a commitment to addressing the ethical and practical challenges that come with new technologies.
To me, it has really highlighted the importance of staying sharp with the latest technology while also being mindful of the challenges it presents. I’ve come to appreciate that, in the data industry, it’s crucial to balance innovation with considerations for confidentiality, energy resources, and unbiased information.
Can you share any challenges or obstacles that you have faced during your internship, and how you have overcome them with the support of Datategy teams?
Throughout my internship, I encountered my fair share of errors and bugs, much like any developer does. Each time, my mentor and colleagues were instrumental in helping me understand the root causes of these issues without simply providing the answers.
Their approach focused on fostering a deeper understanding of the problems rather than just achieving a quick fix. This method of guided problem-solving not only helped me overcome challenges but also greatly enhanced my ability to tackle similar issues independently in the future.
Additionally, it has reshaped how I approach problems in general, emphasizing a more analytical and thoughtful process that I now apply in all aspects of my work.
How has the Datategy supported diversity and inclusion among its participants, and what impact has this had on your experience in the program?
I’ve always considered myself open-minded, and working with a diverse group at Datategy has reinforced this perspective. The emphasis on diversity and inclusion reminded me of the vastness of the world and that intelligence and skills are not confined to any particular group.
This environment has enriched my experience by exposing me to a variety of viewpoints and approaches, further broadening my understanding and appreciation of different perspectives. It’s been a powerful reminder that innovation and expertise thrive in diverse settings.
What do you hope to achieve during your time at the Datategy, and how do you see this experience helping you to achieve your long-term career goals in the data industry?
During my time at Datategy, I aim to develop a solid skill set in DevSecOps by immersing myself in a variety of environments. Each experience, including my current one, is incredibly valuable in shaping my expertise.
I hope that my contributions will support the company’s success, particularly in strengthening its cybersecurity measures. This experience is crucial for my long-term career goals, as it will provide me with the practical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to excel in the data industry and ensure robust security in complex systems.
